Turn TikTok comments into DMs — automatically

Point Hooka at one of your TikTok posts, pick a keyword, and every time someone comments it Hooka sends them a DM — as your connected account — and, if you want, drops a public reply under their comment. It deduplicates per person, previews everything in dry-run before it sends, and paces every DM through the same safe per-account limits as your campaigns.

What is comment-to-DM?

Comment-to-DM turns a public signal into a private conversation. You post a video with a call to action — "comment PRICE and I'll send you the details" — and instead of hand-DMing everyone who replies, Hooka watches the post, catches each matching comment, and opens the DM for you.

It's the warmest kind of outreach there is: these people raised their hand first. They commented because they want what you offered. Comment-to-DM just makes sure not a single one falls through the cracks while you sleep — and that every one of them gets a message paced like a human, not a blast.

How does Hooka detect the right comments?

You give an automation two things: the post to watch and a keyword. Hooka then reads the comments on that post and matches them your way:

  • Match mode: contains (the comment includes your keyword anywhere) or exact (the comment is the keyword and nothing else).
  • Accent- and case-insensitive: Sígueme, sigueme and SIGUEME all match the same keyword. No one misses out over a missing accent.
  • Deduplicated per commenter: one person equals one detection, however many matching comments they leave. Nobody gets spammed for being enthusiastic.

Reading the comments doesn't touch your account: detection runs logged-out, the way any visitor sees a public post. Your connected account only steps in when it's time to send.

What happens when someone comments your keyword?

Two things, and you choose whether it's one or both:

  • A private DM — sent as your connected TikTok account, with the message you wrote (variables like {{handle}} included). It goes through the exact same send engine as your campaigns, so it respects the per-account daily cap (up to 100 DMs/day), the server-side spacing and your do-not-contact list. No bursts, no risk spikes.
  • A public reply — optionally, Hooka replies right under their comment as the post's owner ("Sent you a DM 👀"), which nudges them to check their inbox and shows other viewers the offer is real.

Not ready to go live? Every automation has a dry-run mode: Hooka detects the comments and shows you exactly which DM and reply it would send — without sending anything. Flip it to live when the copy looks right.

How is this different from ManyChat's comment-to-DM?

They sound similar; they're not the same tool. ManyChat automates inbound chat through TikTok's official API — it can respond after someone messages first. Its comment-to-DM for TikTok is available only in a handful of countries, needs a TikTok Business account, and lives inside the official API's 48-hour window capped at roughly 10 automated messages.

Hooka works the other way round: it's proactive and worldwide. It acts as your own connected account — no Business account, no official-API approval, no country restrictions — and sends a real, personal DM to anyone who comments your keyword, anywhere.

Honest note: TikTok has no official API for cold outreach, so comment-to-DM — like the rest of Hooka — acts as your connected account rather than through an approved integration, and automating outreach always carries real risk for the account involved. Hooka lowers it with per-account daily caps, human-like spacing and dedup, but it can't make the risk zero. Use a dedicated account, start with lower volumes, and keep the message genuinely useful to the person who commented.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from ManyChat's comment-to-DM?
ManyChat's TikTok automation is inbound-only and runs on TikTok's official API: it replies after a user messages first, its comment-to-DM is limited to a few countries (Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia), it needs a TikTok Business account, and it works inside a 48-hour window capped at about 10 automated messages. Hooka's comment-to-DM is proactive and worldwide: it acts as your connected account, sends a real DM to anyone who comments your keyword, works in any country, and needs no Business account or official-API approval.
Does the same person get DMed twice if they comment again?
No. Detection deduplicates per commenter: one person equals one detection, no matter how many matching comments they leave on the watched post. Combined with Hooka's cross-campaign dedup, a lead never receives the same outreach twice.
Can I preview what it would send before it sends anything?
Yes. Every automation has a dry-run mode: Hooka detects the matching comments and shows you exactly which DM (and public reply) it would send, without sending anything. When you're happy, flip it to live.
How does keyword matching work?
You set a keyword and a match mode: contains (the comment includes the word) or exact (the comment is the word). Matching ignores accents and capitalization, so "Sígueme", "sigueme" and "SIGUEME" all match the same keyword.
Does the DM count against my account's daily limits?
Yes. Comment-to-DM sends through the same engine as your campaigns, so every DM respects the per-account daily cap (up to 100 DMs/day per account), the server-side spacing and your do-not-contact list. It never sends in bursts that would put the account at risk.
